Course Schedule

Day 1: Mastering the Fundamentals of Event Design
Morning:

• Introduction to large-scale floral design
• Understanding client vision and goals
• Design principles and floral selection
• Case Study: Real-world project – Calculating and pricing floral arrangements
• Live Demonstration: Intimate floral table design
• Hands-on Exercise: Create your own intimate floral table design

Afternoon:

• Review floral designs and group discussion
• Live Demonstration: Elevated floral centerpiece
• Hands-on Exercise: Create your own elevated floral centerpiece

Day 2: Scaling Up and Teamwork
Morning:

• Designing for scale and impact
• Working with large containers and structures
• Concept development and mechanics of large floral designs
• Case Study: Large-scale event design
• Live Demonstration: Dramatic focal floral feature
• Teamwork: Creating a dramatic focal feature

Afternoon:

• Teamwork: Designing and presenting your designs
• Case Study: Mathematical analysis of a FLOB (Floral Object)
• Live Demonstration: Creating a FLOB
• Group Project: Collaborative teamwork in large design

Day 3: Advanced Techniques and Large Event Installation
Morning:

• Advanced techniques for large event design
• Logistics, team management, and time management
• Case Study: Entryways, showstoppers, and repeating displays
• Live Demonstration: Creating a large event installation

Afternoon:

• Teamwork: Designing and presenting a large event installation
• Hands-on Exercise: Group work for large-scale design
• Final Presentations and Certificate Awarding

Course Dates 2024

• Tuesday, September 3rd – Thursday, September 5th, 2024
  The course starts at 09:00 each day and ends around 17:00 (sometimes earlier or later).

Cost and What’s Included

The cost of the course is €1350, including:

• All necessary flowers, foliage, containers, ribbons, beads, feathers, flower tape, and wires
• Coffee, tea, soft drinks, and lunch
• Boerma Institute Certificate of Participation in English

Not Included:

• Tools: Please bring your own pruning shears, florist knife, and wire cutter. If you do not have these, you can purchase them in our shop or online. If you order in advance, we will have them ready for you on the day of the course.
