Welcome to the Theo Boerma Cup! This prestigious international floral design competition embraces the theme “100% Organic“. this year. Working 100% organically stimulates creativity and craftsmanship. Without ready-made tools or materials, you are challenged to think differently and develop techniques based on insight, balance, and construction.

Creating floral art in a fully organic way also responds to the growing demand from customers for sustainable and environmentally conscious choices. It represents the future of floral design: honest, inspiring, and in harmony with nature. It demonstrates your ability to work consciously and with a forward-thinking mindset.

All of this deepens your skills as a floral designer, and the Theo Boerma Cup 2026 is the perfect stage to showcase them.

About the Theo Boerma Cup

The Theo Boerma Cup is the premier floral design competition for florists and floral artists worldwide. The competition provides a platform for seasoned professionals and emerging talent to showcase their skills to an international jury and audience.

The 2024 Winner: Aleksandra Flak

Aleksandra Flak from Poland has won the Theo Boerma Cup 2024 with a breathtaking design that perfectly captured the magic of the theme “The Enchanted Garden.” Her work demonstrated unmatched creativity and technical precision, earning her the coveted first place.

General Competition Information

• Date: Friday, September 4, 2026
• Location: Boerma Instituut, Aalsmeer
• Participants: maximum 12 competitors
• Schedule:
  • 09:15 – 09:30: Reception with coffee and tea
  • 10:00 – 14:00: Competition
  • 19:30: Award Ceremony (Saturday, September 7)
  • 21:00: Design breakdown

Participation Requirements:

• Dutch florists and students participate through a preliminary round.
• International participants can register by sending five photos of their work to info@boerma.nl.

1st Prize:

• Handcrafted bronze Theo Boerma Cup (by Mark van Kuppevelt) + name engraved on the trophy.
• Dinner for two in Aalsmeer.

All participants receive a certificate of participation.

Judges

The designs will be evaluated by an expert jury, including Mike Boerma IMF as a representative of the Boerma Instituut. The jury looks for designs that push boundaries and evoke a sense of wonder.
