Welcome to the Theo Boerma Cup! This prestigious international floral arrangement competition has the theme “100% Organic” this year! Working 100% organically stimulates creativity and craftsmanship. This means that you may only use materials that come from nature. So no wire, no regular floral foam (but for example Terrabrick, which is made from 100% plant-based materials), no plastic, etc. Instead of binding wire, you could consider hemp twine with beeswax, for example.

Working 100% organically meets the growing customer demand for sustainable and environmentally conscious choices. Working 100% organically is the future of floristry: honest, inspiring, and in balance with nature. You demonstrate that you can work consciously and with a future-oriented approach.

This deepens your skills as a floral artist, and you can showcase it all during the Theo Boerma Cup in 2026!

The competition provides a platform for experienced professionals and emerging talent to showcase their skills to an international jury and audience.

2024 Theo Boerma Cup Winner: Aleksandra Flak

Aleksandra Flak from Poland has won the Theo Boerma Cup 2024 with a breathtaking design that perfectly captured the magic of the theme “The Enchanted Garden”. Her work demonstrated a high level creativity and amazing technical skill, earning her the coveted first place.

General information about the Theo Boerma Cup 2026

• Date: Friday, September 4, 2026
• Location: Boerma Instituut, Aalsmeer
• Number of participants: maximum 12 participants
• Timetable:
  • 09:15 – 09:30: Reception with coffee and tea
  • 10:00 – 14:00: Competition time
  • 19:30: Award ceremony
  • 21:30: Dismantling the floral arrangement

Participation conditions:

• Dutch florists and international participants can register by sending five photos of their work and a CV to info@boerma.nl.

1st prize:

• Handmade bronze Theo Boerma Cup (by Mark van Kuppevelt) + name on the challenge cup.
• Dinner for two at restaurant “Joseph aan de Poel” in Aalsmeer.

Jury Members:

The designs are judged by an expert jury, including Bill Schaffer, Kristine Kratt of Schaffer Designs, and Mike Boerma IMF as a representative of the Boerma Institute. The jury is looking for designs that push boundaries in sustainable and environmentally conscious floral design.
