Preliminary Round Theo Boerma Cup 2024
The Theo Boerma Cup is back! This prestigious international floral design competition offers florists, floral stylists, and designers from around the world the chance to showcase their talents. To reach a broader audience this year and promote competitive floral design in the Netherlands, we are organizing a special preliminary round.
This preliminary round is focused on Dutch (former) students of the Boerma Institute but is also open to other Dutch florists and students from other schools. The top three participants will qualify for the grand finale in September and win amazing prizes.
General Information and Schedule
The preliminary round took place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Boerma Institute. Participants were challenged to create a hand-tied bouquet in a frame within a 60-minute time limit.
Competition Task
- Frame: This could be prepared at home beforehand.
- Theme: The occasion or event for which the bouquet was created was chosen by the participant.
- Description: A brief explanation (A5 format) was to accompany the bouquet.
- Presentation: Participants brought their own base for displaying the bouquet, ensuring it was in water with FloraLife (provided on-site).
- Materials: Participants provided all necessary materials themselves.
Schedule
- 09:30 – 09:45: Arrival with coffee and tea.
- 09:45: Explanation of the competition and recent updates.
- 09:50 – 10:15: Preparation time.
- 10:15 – 11:15: The competition.
- 11:15 – 11:45: Cleanup and presentation setup.
- 12:00: Lunch.
- Afternoon: Free time for participants while the jury evaluated the creations.
- 16:30: Award ceremony.
