Are you dreaming of becoming a professional florist or taking your floral design skills to the next level? The Boerma Instituut is excited to announce that the 2026 editions of our International Professional Dutch Floral Design Course (DFD) are now scheduled — and registration is officially open!
Whether you’re a beginner with a passion for flowers or an experienced designer ready to refine your craft, this intensive, hands-on course is the ideal starting point for a successful career in floral design.
What to Expect
Taught entirely in English, the DFD course provides a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical training. Over the course of four weeks, you’ll learn everything from the basics of bouquet-making to the finer details of wedding and funeral arrangements. The course is also available in flexible modules, so you can plan your training around your own schedule.
You’ll Learn:
- Material knowledge: Understand the unique properties and uses of flowers and greenery.
- Color theory: Learn how to create harmonious and visually impactful designs.
- Design techniques: Practice a wide range of techniques and styles, including hand-tied bouquets, corsages, and funeral work.
- Floral arrangements: Create everything from Biedermeiers to Dutch garden styles and vegetative designs.
Real-World Experience
One of the highlights of the course is a guided visit to Royal FloraHolland, the world’s largest flower auction. You’ll witness firsthand how the international flower trade works — a truly inspiring and eye-opening experience for anyone entering the floral industry.

The course fee includes:
- All flowers and materials
- Tools, books, and documentation
- Coffee, tea, and fresh lunches daily
- A certificate or diploma upon successful completion
