De Internationale Vakopleiding Bloemschikken van het Boerma Instituut is dé perfecte start voor iedereen die een professionele carrière in de bloemschikwereld ambieert. Deze opleiding, gegeven in het Engels, biedt een stevige basis voor zowel beginnende als ervaren bloemisten, winkelmedewerkers en hobbyisten die hun vaardigheden naar een hoger niveau willen tillen
Met de unieke aanpak van Dutch Floral Design (DFD), krijg je niet alleen praktische vaardigheden aangeleerd, maar ook een diepgaande theoretische achtergrond die essentieel is voor het maken van hoogwaardige bloemcreaties. Geen ervaring? Geen probleem. Deze cursus is ontworpen om je stap voor stap alle technieken te leren, van eenvoudige boeketten tot geavanceerde rouwstukken en bruidswerk.
Wat leer je tijdens de opleiding?
De opleiding is verdeeld in een theoretisch en een praktisch gedeelte:
Theorie:
- Materiaalkennis: ontdek de eigenschappen en toepassingen van bloemen en groen.
- Kleurenleer: leer kleuren combineren voor esthetische en harmonieuze ontwerpen.
- Ontwerpschema’s: begrijp de belangrijkste stijlen en principes van bloemschikken.
Praktijk:
Tijdens het praktijkgedeelte ligt de nadruk op technische vaardigheden. Onder leiding van ervaren docenten leer je onder andere:
- Handgebonden boeketten: gemengd, parallel, open silhouet en bruidsboeketten.
- Corsages: heren-, damescorsages en tiara’s.
- Rouwstukken: druppelvormige arrangementen, kruisen, kransen en lineaire ontwerpen.
- Algemeen bloemwerk: Nederlandse tuinen, vegetatieve ontwerpen, Biedermeiers en nog veel meer.
Flexibele Modules
De Internationale Vakopleiding Bloemschikken kan als volledige vierweekse cursus worden gevolgd of opgesplitst in modules. Zo kun je de opleiding aanpassen aan jouw agenda. Elke module richt zich op een specifiek aspect van bloemschikken, en je kunt in één keer de volledige cursus volgen of de modules over meerdere periodes verdelen.
Bezoek de grootste bloemenveiling ter wereld
Een bijzonder onderdeel van de cursus is een excursie naar de bloemenveiling FloraHolland in Aalsmeer. Hier zie je hoe miljoenen bloemen dagelijks de wereld overgaan.
Wat is inbegrepen?
- Alle bloemen, materialen en gereedschappen.
- Lesboeken en kleurendocumentatie.
- Koffie, thee en lunch tijdens de lessen.
- Een officieel certificaat of diploma na het succesvol afronden van het examen.
Let op: Materiaal voor huiswerkopdrachten en reis- en verblijfskosten zijn niet inbegrepen.

- Duur cursus: 4 weken (of gesplitst in modules).
- Kosten volledige cursus: € 4.500,- (inclusief materialen, lunches en examen).
- Startdata 2025:
- Volledige cursus: 13 januari – 7 februari & 8 september – 3 oktober.
- Modules 1 t/m 4: flexibel te volgen.

I recently completed a Professional Dutch Floral Design program at Boerma Instituut, and I can’t express how thrilled I am with the experience! Jacqueline and Mike, the instructors, were absolutely fantastic. Their passion and expertise in floral design made every class engaging and inspiring. From hand-tied bouquets to bridal arrangements, we explored a wide range of designs, covering both theory and practical aspects.
In 2023, I was searching for a place to hone my floristry skills and deepen my understanding of its fundamentals when I discovered the Boerma Institute in Aalsmeer. Their 4-week course in English was a huge plus, especially since I don’t speak Dutch. This course attracts a diverse group of international participants, and the friendships formed make the experience even more special. Conveniently located near Royal Flora Holland, the world’s largest floral auction, we had the incredible opportunity to visit as part of the 20-day course, which was absolutely jaw-dropping. The course is led by a team of experts who are not only highly knowledgeable but also exceptionally friendly, making the journey from The Hague entirely worthwhile.
The prestigious Boerma Instituut is a brilliant place to learn floristry. I first completed the introductory course and had a fantastic experience, meeting classmates from all around the world who are now dear friends. The meticulously planned courses are very enjoyable, yet also demanding of the Instituut’s high standards and took me from a complete beginner to a job at the best local floristry business in Belfast .
Thanks to the Boerma Instituut I am now enjoying my second year of a floristry career and use the skills I learned there daily. Every aspect of my experience at the Boerma Instituut has been excellent , the friendly expert teachers, the facilities, the materials provided, the delicious lunches, the trips and the many opportunities provided. The Boerma family and their teachers are the best connected in the floristry business, they provide amazing follow up classes with world renowned fellow master florists and have close ties spanning generations with growers, the flower auctions and with all key aspects of the industry. You will be trained in Dutch flower styles and with an eye to eco friendly practices, plus Dutch thrift, which are great transferable skills, attractive to employers and can be taken with you as you find your own floristry style. All in all, I cannot recommend the experience at the Boerma Instituut highly enough. I certainly intend to return to enjoy further classes with the best of the best!

Just completed week 1 of 5 of the international Dutch Floral Design course at Boerma Instituut. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Truly knowledgeable and professional staff. Great to be taught by owner Jacqueline Boerma and her son Mike. Also had some teaching from visiting tutor Syl. And last but not least, fantastic vegetarian food was prepared every day by the wonderful Dunja! Really hope I can go back later in the year!
